Who Threw That Towel In?

I love FIGHTS! I am sure that most of you reading this also enjoy a good fight every once in a while. Whether you watch professional boxing,UFC,Olympic wrestling,an NFL shoving match(or facemask grabbing) or even the occasional WWE (WWF for my generation) Championship Belt match. I must confess. I didn’t grow up in the greatest parts of the US of A. We had our fair share of middle school and high school fist fights. I would watch my friends fight over silly stuff. But we are not going to talk about the reasons why somebody should or should not fight. Let’s face it though. We all get into fights in some form or fashion. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a physical fight. It very well could be spiritual, mental and even emotional.

What we see happen in almost every single fight is one if not both of the contenders eventually get tired. In a fight we use every ounce of energy and effort to be the one that comes out on top. I love watching heavyweight fights go the distance because you tend to see who put more commitment and effort into training and conditioning before the fight. They are so tired by the end of the fight they look like they are just cuddling each other. If you have ever been in fight or a battle of some sort you know that feeling. The feeling that you just wish it was over. The feeling you should just throw in the towel.

The problem with towel being thrown in is as much as YOU want to throw in the towel you can’t. The towel comes from the corner. It comes from the people who have trained you, encourage you,fix you up in between rounds when you are all beat up. The towel is a sign of surrender that no leader, manager, trainer and fighter ever wants to see hit the ground in the ring. It comes from your corner when they think you can’t go on. But it happens.

You might be in a fight right now. And that is totally fine. You might want to give up right now. You might be looking to your corner and pleading and begging for the towel to be tossed. You may have completely checked out. But God. Let me repeat that. But God. God is the one who is in your corner. God is the one who is in control of your future. Your outcome is in HIS hands. One thing I know about my God is that HE NEVER gives up. HE NEVER fails. HE NEVER leaves us or forsakes us. HE NEVER runs out of anything on us. HE NEVER quits. And just when you think you are just too weak. That you don’t have enough strength to move on. Turn to HIS words.

2 Corinthians 12:9

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”…

God will NEVER throw the towel in on your fight. We already have victory because of what Jesus did at Calvary.

FIGHT ON. Greater is HE that is in you than he that is in this world!
